It sure has been hot the past few days. It’s almost as though we skipped Spring and jumped straight into Summer! I’m sure you love the Summer, but no one loves the Summer like the Can Man because he likes his trash extra stinky. Which brings us to our next point, we know you’re not the Can Man and that you don’t like your trash extra stinky or extra full of maggots, and that is exactly what Summer brings in the garbage world.
So, how are we going to combat this you ask? Well it’s not feasible to go around cleaning everyone’s can for them, however we can give you some tips.
1. Make sure the bag you put your trash in is securely tied and has no holes when you put it in your can. This keeps the stink locked in and the maggots out
2. The same goes for your trash can, if you use one. It shouldn’t have holes and the lid should be securely fastened. (Our Tipper Carts are a great solution to this!!)
3. Limit food scraps. We know its hard to keep your food scraps out of the trash and we don’t expect you to. However, limiting food scraps in your can will lessen your chance for stinky, maggoty trash.
4. If a stink or maggot problem does occur, simply douse your can with some bleach powder, or spray and rinse it with water
We know these are some pretty basic tips, but they really do help to reduce the stink of garbage and the chance for those gross maggots to show up.
